EISENHOWER
He was born on the night of October 14, 1890, in a rented
room near the rail road tracks in
Dwight was the third of six children to live maturity,
Eisenhower had five brothers-Arthur Eisenhower, banker; Edgar Eisenhower, lawyer

Dwight married Marie “Mamie” Geneva Doud when he was 25
and she was 19 years of age on July 1, 1916, at the home of the bride’s

Eisenhower attended Lincoln School, grades one through
sixth, Garfield School, grades seven and eight, and Abilene High school, class
of 1909. He attended
Dwight was a career soldier. He served in the Army during
1915-1948 and 1951-1952 rising from second lieutenant to five-star general.
During WWII He served as a chief of staff in charge of war plans. He resigned
from the Army in 1948. He took the position of President of Columbia University
(1948-1950) and later was appointed Supreme Commander of the

reelected for a second term in November 6, 1956. His
vice president was Richard M. Nixon (1913-1994). He served 1953-1961.
Having survived a heart attack in Office, he suffered a few more after retirement. In February of 1969 he contracted pneumonia following surgery for the removal of scar-tissue obstruction of intestine. After that he steadily declined from congestive heart failure.
